Dydan is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and nonindustrial in nature.

  • These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • The worldlets require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Irikusk Subsector of Far Home Sector.

System Data

Temus-Dydan System

The primary is Temus, a dim red subdwarf star. It has a luminosity of 0.00103 Sols, a mass of 0.081 Sols, and a diameter of 109,000 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, (III) the Dydan Main Belt, nominated the mainworld, (IV-I) a vacuum worldlet, (IV-II) a trace atmosphere worldlet, (V) a vacuum worldlet, (VI-I) a dense stony planetoid belt, (VI-II) a large gas giant, (VII) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (VIII-I) a dense stony planetoid belt, (VIII-II) a ringed small gas giant, and (IX) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Only the bigworld and the gas giants retain satellites.

Mainworld Data

(III) Dydan Main Belt

(III) the Dydan Main Belt orbits within the outer system and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean distance of 0.75 AU from the star and is primarily made up of carbonaceous bodies with diameters of less than 50 km. The inner edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of nickel-iron bodies, is considered to lie at around 0.54 AU from the star and the outer edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of icy bodies, is considered to lie at approximately 0.96 AU. The main inhabited body is named Rose, with a mean orbital distance of 0.81 AU around Temus and an orbital period of 2 years 205 days. It has a long axis of 120 km, a density of 4.77 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.006 G. It retains no atmosphere and has no hydrographics. Mean surface temperature: -160°C.

History & Background (Dossier)

No information yet available.

World starport

Dydan has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level

Dydan possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World government

Dydan is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to write the policies voted on. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by voting population.
