The Imperium maintains a policy of limited, deliberate expansion. Subsectors along its border which are potential acquisitions are called Districts and numbered sequentially.
Known Districts and former districts:
- District 167 - original designation for Million Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 400.
- District 168 - original designation for Atsah Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 200.
- District 169 - original designation for Geniishir Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 200.
- District 191 - original designation for Dunmag Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 360.
- District 192 - created in the 2nd Century. Became Vincennes Subsector in 243.
- District 193 - original designation for Usani Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 230.
- District 194 - original designation for Zeng Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 307.
- District 195 - original designation for Kamlar Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 307.
- District 217 - original designation for Pretoria Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 457.
- District 218 - original designation for Sabine Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 366.
- District 219 - original designation for Inar Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 325.
- District 220 - original designation for Star Lane Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 424.
- District 221 - original designation for Gulf (De M) Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 550.
- District 233 - original designation for Lamas Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 510.
- District 234 - original designation for Antra Subsector, admitted into the Imperium in 520.
- District 267 - created in 610. Now Five Sisters Subsector.
- District 268 - created in 610.
