The Demon Eye class 3T Grav Tank was designed and manufactured at TL–10, these vehicles were license built at Felid (world), along the Distant Fringe. The vehicle has a crew of three: driver, gunner and commander. These probably date from models used during the Scybrian Wars.

Description / Specifications

Demon Eye class 3T Grav Tank, TL 10: The vehicle's crystaliron armor sheaths the chassis to levels of protection equivalent or superior to starship hull metal. This design is sealed with life support for the crew in vacuum and protected forces roles. It features heavier frontal armor on the moderately sloped chassis front, proof against most current light weapon systems. Traditionally deployed in companies of ten tanks with 30 crew, support units are concentrated at higher levels. One of the fundamental trade offs in the design was the decision to put a 8MW off the shelf, stock plasma gun into a stabilized turret on the vehicle's deck with TL–10 direct fire control. Modern analysts insist that this is not sufficient versus other modern Grav Tanks. A standard 40 MW fusion power plant is installed, which can share stock parts with a wide variety of military vehicles across the Distant Fringe. For greater self defense and to partially compensate for their lighter armor, a VRF Gauss Gun is installed with expensive TL–10 point defense fire control. This weapon will also shred any infantry that gets too close as well. Finally, a magazine TAC missile launcher was installed in the chassis to provide some small hope of defeating heavier armored vehicles. Originally intended as an APC which explained the lighter plasma gun and armor, the excess room is filled with abundant fuel which, when combined with its above average speed, gives this tank excellent range when compared with several contemporaries.

Chassis:

Height: 2m (+0.5m turret); Width: 3.5m; Length: 6m.
Total usable volume: 42m³
Total mass loaded: 146.86573 metric tons
Hull Material: Crystaliron
Armor: Chassis front, 52; turret front 48, turret and chassis sides 42, turret and chassis rear, belly and deck 40.
Target Size DMs: +2 low, +0 high hits
Production Cost: Cr3,879,148.7

Movement:

The Grav Tank has two modes, weapons ON and weapons OFF. With weapons ON there are 1.1 maneuver Gs. With weapons OFF there are 1.7 maneuver Gs. With weapons ON the maximum speed is 1,881kph/1,567.5cm, cruise speed is 1,411kph/1,176cm; NOP 140kph/117cm. With weapons OFF maximum speed is 1,379kph/1,149cm, cruise speed is 1,034kph/862cm; NOP 140kph/117cm. NOP flight is limited by available TL–10 avionics, and not the 400 tons of thrust.

Movement effect on fire: None

Weapons:

Full weapons stabilization.

Turret Mounted Plasma A Gun

The turret mounted plasma A gun is a common energy weapon in use. It has an 8 MW input and is fitted with TL–10 direct fire control. The weapon has some burst radius in addition to impact penetration for greater area effect against adjacent targets at short and medium ranges. It can engage a single target per firing phase and is automatically spotted when it fires.

Direct Fire Characteristics: Plasma A Gun
Effective Range Long Range Extreme Range
1.26km (44)/10m(28) 2.52km (31)/10m(15) 5.04km (6)/-

Coaxial Mounted Point Defense System

The dorsal turret mounts a VRF Gauss Gun with TL–10 point defense fire control. It rolls 6d6 versus indirect fire missions. It has the following direct fire characteristics:

Direct Fire Characteristics: VRF Gauss Gun
Effective Range Long Range Extreme Range
1.5 km (21)+8 3 km (19)+6 4.5 km (17)+3

The main VRF Gauss Gun has storage for 30,000 rounds, enough to allow 23 fire phases of sustained fire. It can engage 16 targets in 15 seconds and has a +4 signature.

TAC Missiles

There is a 41.4kg capacity, magazine fed TAC missile launcher, in a vertical launch silo in the chassis. These missiles use a 20cm HEAP 52 warhead wedded to a variety of guidance packages. It takes a single crew member to manually reload these missiles internally if additional rounds are available. The homing missiles struggle to achieve intercepts against vehicles protected with advanced ECM abilities. The ranges of some packages exceed the platform's sensor footprint, so relays and spotters are required for longer range engagements. No HE warheads are typically available for anti-aircraft work. The platform has no target designating lasers of its own and requires other spotters or well equipped vehicles to employ that guidance package. Several guidance packages have long range and hyper velocity interceptor options available. The MASER command links are jam proof, but restrict range to 10km. The teleguided package is the heaviest and most expensive, but it is the best for hunting grav sleds fond of pop ups. The launcher's magazine is delivered loaded with twenty +3 DM HEAP 52 operator guided missiles with MASER communication links, which are included in the price.

Characteristics: HEAP Warhead Missiles
