It is possible, albeit extremely costly and time-consuming, to build up a cache of hydrogen fuel in interstellar space.

  • A ship jumps in with its cargo holds full of hydrogen, adds most of its hydrogen to the cache, then refuels and jumps out again.
  • These caches are used primarily by the military. Finding a cache without knowing its exact location is almost impossible.
