System Data

Jakan-Debeeda System

The primary is Jakan, a dim red subdwarf star. It has a luminosity of 0.002 Sols, a mass of 0.104 Sols and a diameter of 145,000 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a vacuum inner world, (III) Gadanna, a large gas giant: (IIIe) Debeeda is its outer satellite and is designated the mainworld, (IV) a dense stony planetoid belt, (V) a ringed small gas giant, (VI) a small ice giant, and (VII) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

(III) Gadanna

(III) Gadanna is a large gas giant that orbits Jakan at a mean distance of 0.72 AU (107.7 million km), within the outer system, and has an orbital period of 1 year 298 days. It has a diameter of 96,000 km and an atmosphere consisting of 89% hydrogen (H2), 11% helium (He), and less than 1% methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH3), water vapor (H2O) and other trace gases. It is a banded reddish-brown color with large storms dotting the surface. It retains a family of four major satellites.

Satellites

Gadanna retains four major satellites:

(IIIa) Narano (UWP Y100000-0, orbiting at 6 Diameters/575,000 km)
(IIIb) Lodan (UWP Y100000-0, orbiting at 8 Diameters/770,000 km)
(IIIc) Debeeda (designated the mainworld, orbiting at 20 Diameters/1.92 million km)
(IIId) Vas (UWP Y4A1000-0, orbiting at 30 Diameters/2.88 million km)

Mainworld Data

(IIIc) Debeeda

(IIIc) Debeeda is the third of the four major moons of (III) Gadanna and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 20 diameters (1.92 million km), with an orbital period of 240 days 10 hours: it is tidally locked to Gadanna. The axial tilt is 1 degree relative to Gadanna. Debeeda has a diameter of 4,680 km, a density of 6.44 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.43 G. Tidal stresses caused by the gravitational pull of Gadanna cause occasional seismic activity. The atmosphere is rated as Trace, with a mean surface pressure of 0.05 bar and a composition of 89% carbon dioxide (CO2), 8% nitrogen (N2), 1% argon (Ar), 1% neon (Ne), and 1% methane (CH4), abiotic oxygen (O2), water vapor (H2O) and other trace gases. Around 6% of the surface is covered in a crust of frozen carbon dioxide and crystalline water-ice. Mean surface temperature: -175°C. The climate is rated as Frigid and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is ethereal and weak weather systems driven by the star ghost across the globe.

Mainworld Atmosphere

TBD has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

Total surface area: 69 million km², Land surface area: 65 million km², Ice coverage: 4 million km².

Native Lifeforms

Jakan-Debeeda System

No world in the system is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)

No information yet available.

World starport

Debeeda has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level

Debeeda possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World government

Debeeda is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
