Date Organization and chronological records have developed over the life of the Traveller RPG Wiki since 2006 CE. Much of the system was based on the Traveller Integrated Timeline by Donald McKinney whose research helped give the OTU shape.

Description (Specifications)

The era categories, of which there are 10, to which each year article will belong are:

  1. Category: Years of the long silence (−300,000 to −9234)
  2. Category: Years of rise of the Vilani (−9235 to −4044)
  3. Category: Years of the First Imperium (−4045 to −2421)
  4. Category:Years of the Interstellar Wars (−2422 to −2203)
  5. Category: Years of the Second Imperium (−2204 to −1776)
  6. Category: Years of the Long Night (−1775 to 0)
  7. Category: Years of the Third Imperium (0 to 1116)
  8. Category: Years of the Collapse (1117 to 1199)
  9. Category: Years of the Imperium Eternal (1117 to ????) For the GURPS Alternative, no rebellion, timeline.
  10. Category: Years of the Fourth Imperium (1200 to 1300)

Each of these categories will have the years in order, There's a trick to getting the category system to organize them properly; use a leading zero(s) to get the dates in "alphabetic" order. [[Category: Years of the Long Night|−00033]] or [[Category: Years of the Third Imperium|01116]] These are part of the Year article (−33 or 1116 respectively).

All of these categories will belong to the Category: Timeline, which in turn will be part of the Category: Library. Yes, you will have to hunt down two levels of categories to get to a specific year, but it keeps the library category a little cleaner.

History & Background (Dossier)

In order to keep all the years straight, we have borrowed several ideas from other wikia, including Wikipedia and Wookipedia.

Each year will have its own article, named for the year using the number. Because most Traveller references use Imperial dating, so does the Traveller wiki. This will produce a large number of articles between −9235 and about 1250.

There is a Template: Date, which needs to be added to each date article. This template includes conversions to each of the other major dating systems, and include helpful links to other articles about dates, and a forward/backwards date links.

Each date article should include three major sections (use = =): Events, Births, and Deaths. Don't worry about separating the canon from non-canon events.

Each of the year articles will belong to one of the year categories, based upon the era in which it occurs. Do not include any other categories for these articles (no {{LE}} or {{LEN}} templates). While these articles are part of the library, they mix canon and non-canon event.
