Core Expedition/secret

The Zhodani discovered a high technology artifact, that they call the star map projector, which they have used to launch a Core Expedition, a trip to the center of the galaxy to find a precursor race known as the Primordials.

Description (Specifications)

The star map projector, like most of the artifacts found at the Zhdant City site is an Ancient artifact, and has both precognitive abilities (It can forecast the future) as well as the ability to project highly accurate astrographical maps of coreward space from Zhodani space.

History & Background (Dossier)

There is a secret history to the star map projector.

• In -4218 the Zhodani discovered a cavern 1.5 Km below the ancient Zhdant City site. In this cavern was a starmap projector which displayed a 30 pc diameter corridor of stars stretching 8000 pc towards the galactic core.

• In -4034 the status of this novelty device was changed to a state secret when it was discovered to have accurately predicted the -4074 misjump of the starship Lienjqiets, which became apparent when it limped home 40 years later.

• The first expedition to explore this area left in -4006 as the First Core Expedition. The Zhodani have used the precognitive ability of the star map projector to assist them in avoiding/dealing with races encountered along the core expedition route.
