Corcoran is a vacuum world, with a complete lack of atmosphere. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Udusis Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector and in the Domain of Antares. Corcoran, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.

History and Background

Corcoran was interdicted from 940 to 998 by the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service for the preservation of a possible Ancient site, the only one found to date within Empty Quarter sector.

In an announcement in 990, a Senior Scout Leader for the IISS stated that the interdiction status for Corcoran would be lifted gradually over the next ten years, as "extensive research has demonstrated that the existence of an Ancient site on the planet was a carefully fabricated hoax, perpetrated by individuals who are currently in Imperial custody."

The lack of Ancient sites within The Empty Quarter remains a mystery, as they can be found throughout most other sectors of Charted Space. No other possible Ancient sites are known to exist within the Empty Quarter. What this signifies is still being debated in the halls of academia.
