System Data
Ch'asaka-Chiatha System
The primary is Ch'asaka, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols, and a diameter of 764,000 km. (I) Chiatha orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (III) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (IV) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, and (V) a sparse icy planetoid belt form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(I) Chiatha
(I) Chiatha is designated the mainworld. It orbits Ch'asaka at a mean distance of 0.22 AU (32.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 53 days 22 hours: it is tidally locked to Ch'asaka. The axial tilt is 3 degrees. Chiatha has a diameter of 6,623 km, a density of 4.87 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.46 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Ch'asaka cause regular geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 1.23 bar and a composition of 80% nitrogen (N2), 19% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 53% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.4m. Mean surface temperature: 12°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Cool and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the oceans surge across the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 138 million km², Water surface area: 73 million km², Land surface area: 65 million km².
- Chiatha is a Twilight Zone World.
- The world experiences libration, which causes the star to move in the sky and periodically rise and fall above the horizon in the twilight region.
Native Lifeforms
Ch'asaka-Chiatha System
Chiatha, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
