History & Background (Dossier)
The role of Cargo Master was first created on Sailing Vessels and then Aircraft - where the correct stowage of cargo was a matter of life or death. Sudden movement of cargo in a hold could cause a ship to founder or an aircraft to crash.
With Gravcraft, the issue became less existential, but not unimportant. Opening a cargo hatch and being buried under loose cargo still happens. Having a 10 dTon container moving in a hull when the ship is manoeuvring under even 1G of acceleration can damage both the cargo and the ship.
