Description[edit]
An informal band of Belters that skirt on the boundaries of the law and custom.
The Dark Star Group is a peer-to-peer group that sees its adherents dabbling with low levels of civil disobedience including smuggling, claim-jumping and piracy.
It has never been so outrageous as to force the Belt Government to declare the group a terrorist organisation - but several of its members have been jailed for criminal acts.
Note that Dark Star Security is an offshoot of the Dark Star Group and, in many ways, influences its activities. Unlike the group as a whole, the security arm is organised and hierarchical and is the root of many of the disagreements within the group. Some feel the tail is now wagging the dog.
History[edit]
The Dark Star Group appeared as a dissident group with the slow-down in the belt's growth during the last half-century. It has been accused of contributing to the economic issues, especially with the "Truffle Hound" incident - which saw the destruction of one of Black Rock Mining Corporation's survey vessels in 284.
During the Taktsang Pirates Campaign the Dark Star Group generally restricted its activities to maintaining peace away from Sparks - and grabbing valuable bases after the main piratical fleet was destroyed.
