Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance. |
The Burning Sky class Schooner is a Civilian Ship.
- It is a Merchant.
Description (Specifications)
The Burning Sky class Schooner is used by the Peladon Royal Merchant Marine, which comprises the spacefaring commercial interests of Kingdom of Peladon-registered ships and their crews. Examples of the class can be encountered throughout the coreward parts of Theta Borealis and Mavuzog Sectors. The vessel has a streamlined, generally saucer-shaped hull with a "teardrop" profile and a distinctive side-mounted bridge. It is fitted with fuel scoops and a fuel purification plant allowing it to perform wilderness refuelling.
Basic Ship Characteristics
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]
No. | Category | Remarks |
---|---|---|
1. | Tonnage | The Burning Sky class is constructed using a 300 Ton hull built in a Flattened Sphere configuration. The hull is fully streamlined and has airfoil surfaces, giving good atmospheric performance that is further enhanced by its onboard gravitic systems.
|
2. | Crew | 8 personnel.
Accommodations
Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems.
|
3. | Performance | The vessel mounts a Jump-1 drive, a Maneuver-1 drive, and a Power Plant-1, giving performance of Jump-1 and 1-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 0 and an emergency agility of 1. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for two consecutive Jump-1s and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration.
|
4. | Electronics | Adjacent to the [small craft bridge] bridge is a Model/2 computer: no backup computer is installed.
|
5. | Hardpoints | 3 hardpoints.
|
6. | Armament | The normal weapons fit-out for a Burning Sky class is:
|
7. | Defenses | The hull is unarmored.
|
8. | Craft | The vessel carries no subcraft. |
9. | Fuel Treatment | The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 63 Tons.
|
10. | Cost | The basic cost of the vessel is MCr111.736
|
11. | Construction Time | 56 weeks (13 months) as standard.
|
12. | Comments | Standard cargo capacity amounts to 100 Tons.

History & Background (Dossier)
The Burning Sky class Schooner is used by the Peladon Royal Merchant Marine. It is a basic but reliable vessel with a spacious hold accessed by a ventral ramp. Many locally-modified variants of the design exist, usually with different numbers of staterooms and low berths, the addition of subcraft or vehicles, or upgraded performance and electronics.
