The Bramble class Gunboat is a light warship.
- It is a military ship and a Gunboat.
Description (Specifications)
The Bramble class Gunboat was a small production run, experimental class of gun boats.
The ships were popular with crews as they were sleek and agile. They were easy to fly and performed well. They had a crew of 18 which included a command pilot, navigator, medic, 9 engineers, and 6 gunners. They had nine staterooms with double occupancy. The weapons included a pair of triple missile turrets, a pair of triple beam laser turrets and a pair of dual plasma gun turrets. Their plasma cannons were grouped into four batteries for close in point defense against enemy missile barrages.
However, the lack of fuel refineries made them vulnerable to misjumps from unrefined fuel. Their lack of fiber optic computer redundancy made them vulnerable to radiation damage. The armor cladding and energy absorbent platelets were too light to protect from heavy bombardment.
Basic Ship Characteristics
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]

History & Background (Dossier)
They were built at the Brother's Boatyards on a local moon, this series of Gunboats was discontinued after only a brief production run. One prototype, the Terran Naval Service (TNS) Bramble, was tested by the local Naval Base, and a production run was ordered. It was halted after only three ships were completed, the TNS Albacon, TNS Missiletoe, and the TNS Watchful. One battered example survives today in a fleet space museum.
The Battle of Agidda in (-2397) is the first and last time they ever saw combat duty and their performance is credited with ending the production line. Even though the Terran Confederation consider it a victory, during the Second Interstellar War against the First Imperium.
