The Border Worlds Confederation is a polity and an Imperial client state in the Sword Worlds subsector.

History & Background (Dossier)
By the end of the Fifth Frontier War, the Imperial 213th and 214th fleets occupied a number of worlds belonging to the Sword Worlds Confederation: Beater, Biter Bronze, Durendal, Dyrnwyn, Hofud, Iron, Mithril, Steel, and Sting. For various reasons, not the least the anger felt over the fact that the Sword Worlds had attacked Lanth with no prior declaration of war, the Imperium chose not to return the occupied worlds to the Confederation. Long and complicated negotiations eventually led to the establishment in late 1111 of the Border Worlds Confederation. The new polity consisted of the ten occupied worlds plus Sacnoth, which chose to turn its back on the Sword Worlds Confederation and become the biggest fish in a new pond, and Tyrfing, which was sufficiently under Sacnoth's influence to follow in its wake. Sting was chosen as the seat of the new government, the Border Worlds Authority.
- In 1115, a group of Imperials from Lunion illegally settled Steel. The Border Worlds sent a strongly worded protest to the Imperium.
- As of early 1117, the matter has still not been resolved.
- In 1116, the Authority grew so exasperated with obstructions from Sting's civil service that it moved to another world. After some wrangling, Beater was chosen as the new capital. Shortly thereafter Sting seceded from the Border Worlds and applied to the Imperium for full membership. The petition has been forwarded to Capital. In the meantime, the Border Worlds Commision is considering granting Sting status as a client state in its own right.
- In 1118, Sting left the Border worlds, and Excalibur joined the Border Worlds.
Government & Politics (Leadership)
The creation of the Border Worlds was overseen by the Border Worlds Commission, which also acted as the Government from 1111 to 1116. The Government of the Border Worlds from 1116 was the Border Worlds Authority based in its new capital Sting. n.b. The Government of Dyrnwyn was operated by a corporation registered in the Sword Worlds Confederation (by agreement with the Border Worlds Commission reached in 1111). Sovereignty remained with the Border Worlds Confederation.
