A modification to the standard ship's computer design, the bis version trades a greater capacity for direct access programs for a lack medium term storage.
A Ship’s Computer controls the maneuver and jump drives, and conducts the routine operation of all ship systems. What the computer actually does is based on the programs actually installed and operating at any one time.
The design of the Bis allow the computer system to control jump drives, and other ship engineering, with greater capability. The system is more expensive than standard ship's computer of the same size.
