Biplane

The Biplane is a vehicle that is an aircraft.

Description (Specifications)

This is the name for those Aircraft that had a particular wing structure - i.e. two pairs of wings.

There is no specific role or user set to aircraft of this configuration.

History & Background (Dossier)

Early Aircraft (Usually Propeller Aircraft) could not always get sufficient lift from a single wing without that wing becoming structurally unsound. One solution to this was to create an aircraft with multiple wings. This shortened the wingspan, and that had a great advantage in early combat by warplanes.

Some races have designed Ornithopters with two pairs of wings, but these would not normally be classified as Biplanes.
