Beater is an agricultural production world with a shirt-sleeve atmosphere and a balance of available surface water. The system has a population between 1 million and 10 million sophonts. It is a member of Sword Worlds Confederation in the Sword Worlds Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Sword Worlds. This world supports a Sword Worlds Military Base and the system supports a Sword Worlds Naval Base.
Astrography & Planetology
Beater is a member of the Spinward Main.
A rich agricultural world located at the intersection of three important trade routes in the Sword Worlds Subsector of the Spinward Marches. Beater has a dense oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere and a tropical climate. This hot and almost soupy atmosphere give rise to rampant life.
Beater orbits its primary, Gawaine, at a distance of 0.65 AU. Beater has a single moon.

Native Lifeforms
Beater is in a megafaunal stage. Low gravity, high temperatures, lots of oxygen, and no seasons have encouraged the growth of life beyond what is typical. Many planets have periods like this in their histories – Beater just happens to be in one now. [2]
Beater's life forms tend to straddle the line between "plant" and "animal." [2] Beater is renowned for its safaris.
History & Background (Dossier)
The planet's capital city, Kersbog, is located on Tyst Island. Beater's downport is named Hallenport.
Prior to the Fifth Frontier War, Beater was a member of the Sword Worlds Confederation, but in the aftermath of the war it became part of the Imperial Client state known as the Border Worlds Confederation.
Beater was originally named Galatine. [3]
In 1116 the capital of the Border Worlds was moved from Sting (Spinward Marches 1525) to Beater.
