It has a habitable zone of 0.14 AU and 0.24 AU.

This system has 2 gas giants, making it viable refueling point.

There are 7 rocky worlds, with Barsoom being the largest and closest body.

Barsoom is a standard rocky planet, with a metallic core, and a planetary day of 14.0 standard hours.  This configuration provides a stronger than normal magnetic field, allowing for life to survive in such close propinquity to its primary.  The high spinrate and increased radius of Barsoom also reduces the effective gravity at the surface.

Barsoom is a planetary oddity: a small world with a thin oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere and a significant amount of water. Although close to its red dwarf sun, it is not tide-locked and has two small moons. which appear to be captured planetoids -- though no planetoid belt exists in the system. These anomalies have fueled speculation about planetary engineering performed by a pre-Humaniti civilization.

Barsoom appears to be a old world with little tectonic activity.  There are several mountain ranges, but most are of moderate altitude or lower.  There are 3 large seas distributed across the surface.

The planetary ecology is described as quite fragile, and the population takes threats to its well-being seriously as part of planetary policy.

Recently the government has taken independent action against the pirates who plague the subsector.

Barsoom maintains 2 separate, fully-functional Highports.

This arrangement was chosen to maximize flexibility and goods throughput, though the Barsoom military must appreciate the lack of a blindside in their operations.  That said, access to the surface by non-local spacecraft is expressly forbidden without prior approval and military escort.  They are quite serious, and visitors should expect interceptor spacecraft and aircraft to immediately engage their craft should it being descent.

Otherwise, visitors can find an approved Barsoom descent transport (BDT) with relative ease.

There are at least 4 Downports available located near regional capitols or manufacturing centers.  These downports offer clean accommodations, restaurants, banking, chandlers, business offices, etc.  Security is considered higher than most worlds, and activities of visitors are tracked and monitored.  A regional passport can be applied for and acquired by most visitors that will allow access to the local city area near the downport.  Expanded access passports can be acquired after a person has spent at least 30 standard days on Barsoom or its highports.  Keep in mind that passport access is quite granular, and access to specific locations can be granted within the hour or revoked without warning.

The Travellers' Aid society maintains a hostel here, and may be able to advise Travellers on planning access.
