History & Background (Dossier)
An important border world, Avalon is a major military industrial centre supplying hardware to the Imperial-facing Solomani bases in the Magyar Sector.
- It is the home of Avalon Shipyards.
- Several hundred years of industrial activity has left a once pretty world an ecological disaster.
- The Confederation's Nebula Federalist faction, which seeks to lower military spending to reduce Confederation taxes and favours greater emphasis on local Home Guard forces, is now highly influential here.
Early in the Solomani Rim War, Solomani Commodore Coglan was given command of a modest patrol flotilla based out of Avalon. This posting provided him critical insights into asymmetrical warfare, which he would put to good use years later when he readied the defence of Magyar Sector.
World Starport (Sp)
Avalon has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
