Archaic Ranged Weapon are an important part of early TL:1-3 battlefields.

  • Even in an area of high technology energy weaponry, these weapons can still be lethal. Even the toughest trooper in battledress is still vulnerable when pulling off a helmet or performing bodily functions.

Most sophont societies develop prototype firearms by the end of the TL:1-3 technological epoch, which spells the end of the use of most archaic ranged weapons except in specialized roles.
