System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
Mainworld Data
Detailed survey data is available.
Mainworld Size (S)
Answerin is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Answerin has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Answerin has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
A map of Answerin, the mainworld of the system and the homeworld of the Answerin, showing major bodies of water, large landmasses, major highland regions, and the locations of important cities.
- Far more detailed maps are available locally.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
Lifeforms
Answerin is noted for useful and complex flora, including such plants as the Mariyel Black Lily and the Liqar, a herb with many medicinal applications. In contrast, Answerin's animal life is small and relatively primitive.
History & Background (Dossier)
Answerin culture holds fear of any kind to be a disease of the mind, and Answerin's psychiatrists have effective techniques for eradicating all anxiety from the populace. The principal diagnostic tool for this is a portable device which detects anxiety, by analyzing thoughts and body functions. The device's use borders too closely on psionic practices to allow it free export to the rest of the Imperium, but illegal copies are sometimes smuggled out.
- When necessary, natives of Answerin can produce an adrenalin reaction in their bodies, which gives them temporary superhuman strength and dexterity. Mercenaries from Answerin command premium prices for service.
World Starport (St)
Answerin has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- The world is host to an Imperial Naval Base.
World Population (P)
Answerin has a population of 40,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
Languages
World Technology Level (T)
Answerin possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-5.
World Government (G)
Answerin is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
For thousands of years, the Answerin have believed that rational Human minds, unfettered by fear, are capable of properly ordering state affairs and creating just laws. Consequently, the Answerin view democracy as the preferrable form of government, and despite being loyal Imperial citizens they accept the Imperium's political philosophy grudgingly at best. They recognize the problems inherent in an interstellar democracy, but in keeping with their ethos do not shy away from the idea just because it might be difficult. For their part, many Imperial citizens find Answerin's democracy messy and contentious.
World Law (L)
Answerin has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Urbanization
Maweshen is the most notable city, with a population of almost 30 million, many of them offworlders and transients. This arcology is located near the downport and is also home to many megacorporate offices and the local Imperial trade representative.
Few regions of the planet are free from arcology cities, including the world's shallow seas.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility
Answerin, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
Trade Data
- Importance: 3 (ordinary)
World Economy
- Resources: E (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 9 (billions)
- Infrastructure: F (very comprehensive)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
Answerin has seen significant capital investment from Imperial megacorporations hoping to profit from the many useful plant species.
World Culture
- Heterogenity: 8 (discordant)
- Acceptance: D (very xenophilic)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: C (very abstract)
Answerin has become a pilgrimage destination of sorts for some Imperial businessmen who believe that the Answerin must hold great wisdom regarding mental discipline. For their part, while the Answerin of course believe that their philosophies possess genuine insight into the Human condition, they also realize that much of their race's discipline has a biological origin.
