Alpha Centauri is multiple star system consisting of main binary system (Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B) as well as a third class M5 Ve companion, Alpha Centauri C or "Proxima Centauri."
The orbit around Alpha Centauri A is home to Prometheus, and early Terran colony.
The entire Alpha Centauri system is rich in metal deposits.
