Aki is an industrial world with a scarcity of water and a relatively sparse atmosphere. The system has a population over one billion. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Glisten Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Aki, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.

Era: New Era
Aki is an industrial world with a scarcity of water and a relatively sparse atmosphere. The system has a population over one billion. It is a member of Regency of Deneb in the Glisten Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector. Less than 10% of the world's population is the Major Race Aslan.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Originally settled in -138 by the crew and passengers of the misjumped Gramish passenger liner Rolf Krake, and named after the sword of the Vilani warrior-king Golosh. The castaways lost most of their technology but survived and grew to a population of roughly 60,000 by 56, when they were found by the Imperial scout cruiser Giirkha Girgi and placed under administrative interdict.

History & Background (Dossier)
From 98 onwards the interdict was routinely ignored by Bellion. A full interdict was imposes by Artemsus in 111 and sporadically enforced by the Navy, but by the end of the 2nd Century, Aki's societies had become so advanced that there remained little point to the interdict and it was mostly ignored. From 200 onwards immigrants from the Imperium settled there and mingled with the indigenous population. In 216 the interdict was replaced by an Imperial edict imposing technological import restrictions, and a small Class E starport was constructed. In 392 Aki joined the Imperium along with Callia, Glisten New Rome, and Overnale.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility
Aki (SM 2035), as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
Historical Data
Aki was settled from Deneb around 300, and converted to Aborism, a pervasive religion around 450. Religion and government remain separate. Offworlders find the planet uncomfortable due to the large population, mostly crowded into large cities, and because of the hostile attitude of Aborites to non-members. This changes rapidly if one converts. Most cities have large slum areas, and much of the population subsists on church or government doles. Most imports, with the exception of foodstuffs, are subject to a 10% import duty. All normal starship servicing fees are doubled, due to a government effort to collect Imperial currency to facilitate offworld activities.
The original bureaucratic government was mostly ineffective at controlling the restive, overcrowded population. The Aslan clans that invaded in 1119 quickly conquered the world, but had even greater difficulty in controlling the outraged population. Escalating brutality hardened the local resistance, culminating in "Trooper" Mctavish's raid on the government compound in 1122. The ferocity of the local resistance cowed even the most fanatical Aslan clans, who were only too willing to return the world they referred to as the "Valley of Bloody Death" back to the Domain of Deneb in 1131. The local resistance leaders fought among themselves until 1143, and the survivors rode their popularity into a new unified government. The current government is primarily composed of popular military heroes, who nowadays come primarily from the Frontier or the Wilds.
World Culture
General Description of culture: Reactionary-Indifferent, Passive-Neutral, Harmonious-Aloof, Aborism:684419 Unusual Custom: Parents arrange marriages for children.
Other Data
Wills--as a result of a number of lawsuits early in the history of the planet in which beneficiaries of wills were declared ineligible because they were not on the planet at the time the will was resolved, current law allows two Imperial Standard years from the time of death to the reading of the will, and this time may not be shortened unless all beneficiaries are present. In addition, "every effort must be made" to ensure that all beneficiaries are notified.
Airline Rates--Most cities on Aki are served by some sort of scheduled air travel. Rates run about Cr0.1/km, with a minimum price of Cr150.
First Impressions--Housing density is fairly high in most cities, cleanliness is fairly low. General clothing design is loose, colors favored being black, gray, brown, and subdued reds and greens. Certain groups of rebellious youth dress in tight fitting clothing in bright colors (blue, purple, red), and wear their hair very short.
Cuisine is generally vegetarian due to the scarcity of arable land and ethical inclination. Urban windowbox miniature herb gardens are a common sight. Privately owned vehicles in cities are small and scarce. Large trucks are common for cross country travel. Mass transit systems are available in most cities, but are often run down.
