Aachen is a preindustrial, agricultural world.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Thalia Subsector of Ustral Quadrant Sector.
- This world was colonized by and is controlled from Thalia (Ustral Quadrant Sector, Thalia Subsector 2909)
- Aachen is the home world of a minor race calling themselves the A'ach'en.

Mainworld Data
Aachen has an Importance rating of 1 (Ordinary).
- Importance Extension- 1
- (The Importance Extension (Ix) ranks worlds within a region. It governs the locations of capitals and trade routes. )
Mainworld Atmosphere
Aachen has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Native Lifeforms
The A'ach'en (a minor race) are flying insects around 8-10 centimeters long. When joined with approximately 80-100 others of their kind, they create a hive mind with average Solomani intelligence.
History & Background (Dossier)
Non-canon: Aachen is classified as an Amber Zone due to a quarantine created to prevent members of a minor race calling themselves the A'ach'en from leaving the surface. When the A'ach'en were first discovered, it was decided that the world would be governed as a protectorate under the control of SolSec. This quarantine is administered from the nearby sub-sector capital of Thalia (Ustral Quadrant Sector, Thalia Subsector 2909).
World Starport
Aachen has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Technology Level
Aachen possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government
Aachen has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

Negative Efficiency is worse. Efficiency at -1 or less turn the RUs available negative: the Inefficiencies are so destructive as to make the economy a net drain. Such barriers represent a welfare state; cultural influences which do not value wealth, even physical limitations. On the other hand, since some economies have positive efficiencies: positive multipliers increasing available RU. )
