101 Starcrews is a well-written BITS product created for Marc Miller's Traveller, but also useful in any version of Traveller.

Description (Specifications)

101 Starcrews fleshes out a range of starfarers with whom your Traveller adventurers can interact. Whether you just want to put a little life into the other ships around the starport, provide some fellow traders who may be competing for the same cargos or passengers, or throw some 'real' opponents into a starport bar brawl, this is the book for you.

Included are:

  • 101 starcrews, each with a little background about the crew members, their ship, skills, cargos, backgrounds and motivations
  • Instant Adventure Ideas for each crew, that you can throw into the game as a minor diversion or as a hook into another adventure

One of the last 101 Books released by BITS, 101 Starcrews is a useful aid for Traveller referees. This product combines well with 101 Travellers for interesting passengers to put on your players' ships, and 101 Cargos to add flavour to any trading your Traveller characters may choose to undertake.

Meta-history & Background (Dossier)

The first 101 Book produced by BITS after a break of four years, 101 Starcrews, provides the referee with plenty of material to flesh out the 'travelling' aspect of the game. It provides numerous examples of the standard ship types – such as the Type S class Scout and Type A2 class Far Trader – found in all the main Traveller rulebooks. Each ship has a name, description, and details of crew names, foibles and skills using BITS' new generic NPC ability system. In addition, there is at least one plot for every vessel, and a quick system to allow you to flesh out individual's interests and motivations. The book concludes with key Library Data, a summary of ship stats and an index.
