Calibration Point
The Calibration Point (locally known as a "Jump Bridge") is proposed to be set up within interstellar hex 2011 of Uroez Subsector, deep within the Windhorn Rift.
- It is intended to be centered on a Rogue World, which would serve as deep space refuelling point.
- Although the preferred hex location is known, there is no evidence that a suitable body has been found.
Hexes are extremely large, in the region of 3.2 lightyears / 170 light weeks across.
- Without exact coordinates to jump to within one, any ship arriving randomly within the hex is likely to end up many tens of light-weeks away from any Calibration Point.
- Exact coordinates, all required permits, and current security codes would need to be acquired before travel to the Bridge could be attempted.
Within Empty Hex Uroez 2011
The hex contains 5 dTon navigation / emergency buoys, precisely locating the station in relation to their position and containing supplies of oxygen, food, and water.
- The buoys form a sphere around the station, lying up to 10,000 AU distant.
- The buoys provide emergency assistance to vessels that have emerged from jump, perhaps as a result of a navigation error, at a great distance from the station.
- Each buoy automatically transmits a signal to the station if it is accessed.
