An independent political unit which has elected (...or had forced upon it) the patronage of a more powerful political unit.
- That subordinate relationship gives such groups low sovereignty or control over their own matters.
- Client states are sub-polities of a larger polity.
Description (Specifications)
This relationship is generally mutually-beneficial, and is essentially commercial in nature.
- That is, the political or defensive ties which may be part of any patron-client relationship are ultimately intended to promote trade between the two.
History & Background (Dossier)
Client, vassal, or subordinate states have existing since the beginning of every sophontic culture's recorded history.
