Khaaru is a poor, barren desert world with no overt population, government, or law level.

• This world could be populated if anyone had an inclination to do so...
• It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Ftyeeta Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.

• This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)

The system is a binary, made up of the primary and a relatively distant substellar brown dwarf. Each has its own system of worlds.

• The two stars orbit a barycenter once every few years.
• All of the rocky worlds orbit the primary and follow compact resonant orbits.
• Two narrow planetoid belts orbit the brown dwarf.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Khaaru has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

• The world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
• Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials by stellar energy.
• Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity, volcanism, or erosion.
• The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with surface materials: a rough equilibrium between production and depletion exists.
• The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Khaaru has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
