Miir is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.

  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Argi Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector in the Domain of Vland.
  • This is the homeworld of the Gaarkh sophonts.
  • About 50% of the population is composed of Scanians.
  • About 30% of the population is composed of Bwaps.
  • About 20% of the population is composed of humans and other sophonts.

Description

A Bwap/Scanian colony, the planet is extremely rich in aquaculture. The government is based on the Bwap model and is extremely frustrating for visiting humans.

Native Liform: Gaarkh Sophont

There is currently much debate as to the status of one of the local lifeforms, the seal-like Gaarkh. The creatures are extremely violent, possibly psychopathic, and all peaceful attempts to try and prevent their migrational, suicidal attacks on the cities have failed.

Miir has two stars in the star system.

History & Background (Dossier)

During the Long Night this world was named Arduu.

A recent attack apparently showed the Gaarkh using primitive clubs for the first time and the local Scanian Sanhedra wishes to call in the Scout service to re-evaluate their status. This course has been rejected by the Bwap government who appear willing to force the race into extinction.
