The Captutians of Nithus (Theta Borealis 3107) are a technologically advanced Minor Non-Human Race with a generally humanoid appearance.
Physiology[edit]
The Captutian (or Captutain by some records) are squat, muscular beings with sleek black fur covering much of their body.
Captutians have two pairs of limbs. The upper set are equipped with six jointed digits ending in talons. The lower limbs are heavily muscled as these are the main means of locomotion; each is equipped with four taloned digits.
Captutains are naturally telepathic and only use their vocal organs when highly excited. This sound resembles a shrill bark.
Psychology[edit]
Captutians exhibit recognized characteristics of intelligence:
- Conceptual thought, including abstract language.
- Social structure, including social organization.
- Tool use, allowing environmental manipulation.
Captutian psychology is driven by factors common to many sophonts:
- Acquisition (stemming from the need to gather adequate nutrition),
- Preservation (derived from the need to continue their personal existence), and
- Perpetuation (the urge to continue the species).
Diet[edit]
The species is carnivorous. Animals of the Tweel and Dorblas orders are the main meats consumed by the Captutians. The race requires a lot of food.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Captutian are from Nithus, a planet located in the Theta Borealis Sector. They are described in most Human records as "peaceful, furry, and telepathic".
The "peaceful" trait is a recent development; previous Captutian cultures were aggressive and warlike, causing great damage to their world's environment and destroying most of the population. Modern Captutians are dedicated to preserving what remains of their world, and living in harmony.
Culture[edit]
The Star of Nepo is the most common symbol of the peace movement that produced the modern culture. It is a comforting sight to most Captutian.
The species' gesture of friendship is a stroke on the arm or a soft pat on the head.
Their spoken language is called Captutiani.
Diplomatic Relations[edit]
Offworld visitors are always greeted warmly on Nithus and will be treated with respect. However, strange activity will warrant close observation by the Nithus government.
