Willemstad is a low-population oceanic water world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.

  • It is covered with very deep oceans with less than 1% of its land above sea level.
  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 1% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Jauhaux Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

  • It is a white main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Willemstad is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Willemstad has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Willemstad has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

  • The world experiences powerful tides and gigantic waves.

Satellites:[edit]

Willemstad retains a relatively close, relatively small vacuum moon.

  • It orbits once every few days.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Willemstad is a busy commercial outpost focused on trade and commerce.

  • It has been settled for centuries.
  • The resources of the system are largely untapped.

A number of organizations and private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is frequent: ships regularly arrive and depart.
  • Commo regularly picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Naiurdu and Riftian Anglic.
  • Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • A number of vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Willemstad has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Willemstad has a population of 5,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.

Urbanization[edit]

A central urban area located on a large island.

  • Outlying islands have a few isolated structures or compounds.
  • Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Willemstad possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Willemstad is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be a monarchy, with titles passed to family members, or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Alternatively, the organization may be a more typical government apparatus, only with positions of power inherited.

World Military[edit]

Privately retained security forces.

World Law (L)[edit]

Willemstad has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: 1 (ordinary)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 8 (moderate)
  • Labor: 2 (hundreds)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: -1 (average)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 4 (extremely aloof)
  • Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
  • Symbols: 9 (somewhat abstract)
