Venn is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.

  • As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Irikusk Subsector of Far Home Sector.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System Data[edit]

The primary is Oddo, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.42 Sols, a mass of 0.825 Sols, and a diameter of 1.263 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (II) an exotic atmosphere radworld. (III) Venn orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (V) a ringed large gas giant, and (VI) a small gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(III) Venn[edit]

(III) Venn is designated the mainworld. It orbits Oddo at a mean distance of 0.66 AU (98.7 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 215 days 15 hours and a rotation period of 33 hours. The axial tilt is 21 degrees. Venn has a diameter of 8,767 km, a density of 4.78 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.59 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, with a mean surface pressure of 0.67 bar and a composition of 77% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 47% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 21°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Warm and experiences moderate seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star and the seas sweep across the globe.

Satellite[edit]

Venn retains a single natural satellite, a trace atmosphere worldlet named Saradal:

(IIIa) Saradal (UWP F210362-7, orbiting at 15 Diameters/130,000 km)

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 241 million km², Land surface area: 128 million km², Water surface area: 113 million km².

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Oddo-Venn System[edit]

Venn, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

No other world in the system is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

No information yet available.

World starport[edit]

Venn has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World technology level[edit]

Venn possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World government[edit]

Venn is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be monarchy, with titles passed to family members. Or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Or the organization may be more typical organization with positions of power inherited.
