Ultima Thule is a pre-agricultural, pre-Industrial, moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.
- It requires significant imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to slowly improve barring outside forces.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Miitan Subsector of Ilelish Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Ultima Thule is a binary star system.
- The primary is an orange main sequence.
- The secondary is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x9 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Ultima Thule is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Ultima Thule has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Ultima Thule has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
The worlds ecosystem has several interesting species:
- Crikgar: 1.5 meter long, 50 kg, homeothermic, chitinous, viviparous, herbivorous herd grazers with thrashers for defense. This species has two genders, acute hearing, and a prolonged lifespan which has intrigued researchers into Anagathics, though no beneficial findings have yet been made.
- Ents: towering carnivores that are also capable of photosynthesis, found within forested regions. Specimens measuring up to 9 meters in height and weighing in excess of 3,000 kg have been observed. They resemble trees and reproduce by budding.
- Darude: bilateral desert dwellers, typically around 1.3 meters long and massing around 50 kg, with tan skin pigmentation and patches of dense golden brown fur. They have paired arms, paired legs, and double tails with long spines.
- Lotorians: amphibious creatures measuring some 2.5 meters in diameter and massing around 200 kg. They have a radial symmetry and a smooth shiny blue-green integument. They have three eyes, each sited below a long horn, six limbs each with three manipulator digits, and two long tails.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
World Starport (St)[edit]
Ultima Thule has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Ultima Thule has a population of 200,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Ultima Thule possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
- Air: Early aircraft including seaplanes and very early unmanned rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Ultima Thule is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law (L)[edit]
Ultima Thule has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]
Ultima Thule, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of four members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial baronet.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial marquis.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial viscount.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -2 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: A (abundant)
- Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
- Infrastructure: 5 (limited)
- Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 5 (harmonious)
- Acceptance: 6 (aloof)
- Strangeness: 2 (typical)
- Symbols: 2 (very concrete)
