History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

History[edit]

Formation[edit]

Augurgh was a very charismatic Aekhu Vargr of vision, born in the 1070s. The world on which he was born later took the name of the leader: the two are synonymous. Augurgh convinced millions of Vargr of the merits of his vision for a technological paradise. He founded his state in 1091 and amassed a sufficient following that by 1105 encompassed 13 worlds. The state was noted as being fairly neutral regarding the Imperium as a whole, but (via one of its member planets, the republic of Fel (Deneb 2904)) was engaged with a three-way guerre-de-course with Aerfor (Deneb 3104) and its long-time rival, the Marquisate of Million at Taproban (Deneb 3008).

The same impulse that caused this state to form also worked on neighbouring systems, and the Dzarrgh Federate appeared at about the same time. While there was competition for influence over worlds, this competition didn't flare into actual war. The UFA had negotiated a defensive alliance with the Windhorn Pact of Two and the Dzarrgh Federate was too powerful for the UFA to attack alone.

Expansion[edit]

After the outbreak of the rebellion, the UFA was able to increase its territory to 16 worlds - although attempting to take one of these new worlds, 495-524 (Deneb 2802), may have been a mistake given the difficulty that the UFA had in securing it against Droyne intransigence.

Unfortunately his state proved susceptible to the Oekhsos Tirades of the antebellum period, and a number of associated corsair bands invaded parts of Deneb Sector in 1116. Augurgh was not as Anti-Imperial as his neighbours, but had to play the game or face attack from other "space-wolves."

Collapse[edit]

Augurgh died a premature death under suspicious circumstances in 1138, and his followers were snuffed out by Virus in 1143.

Aftermath[edit]

Some of the UFA fleet's captains managed to escape this demise with a group of pitiful refugees, who somehow crossed into the Regency and settled there.
