Thetan Rift
The Thetan Rift is an astrographic feature lying across parts of four subsectors within Theta Borealis Sector and Astron Sector.
- It is a rift area of low stellar density.
- It is a barrier to interstellar travel.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based on Jump Drive performance.
The highest tech level commonly encountered out this Far Along (spinward of the Third Imperium) is TL–12, though a few worlds may be more advanced.
- This level of technology allows the routine use of up to Jump-3 drives.
- Areas that cannot be crossed by Jump-3-capable vessels are denoted as rifts.
- The nature and borders of a rift may be determined by other criteria in different regions.
Astrography[edit]
The Thetan Rift is a large area of lower stellar density lying within the spinward-coreward quadrant of Theta Borealis Sector.
- Other large rifts in the region include the Thetan Void to trailing and the Great Rift to rimward.
The Rift is composed of two separate regions:
- The Thetan Rift, measuring around 5 parsecs coreward-rimward by around 9 parsecs spinward-trailing.
- The Zephor Void, measuring around 4 parsecs coreward-rimward by around 3 parsecs spinward-trailing.
- The Korsumug Gate marks its trailing edge.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Thetan Rift is a desolate and lonely place, empty of stars and uncrossable by most starships.
- A few deep-frozen rogue worlds may lie within its boundaries.
The Rift prevents routine travel by jump-5-capable vessels.
- It presents a significant obstacle to interstellar trade and commerce.
- It forms a natural defensive barrier against the Jaibok.
Historical Data[edit]
The Rift was originally charted during the 300s and 400s, during the Imperial First Survey.
Timeline[edit]

- 420: The region is officially named.
