Discussion: There is a problem with Wahtoikoeakh, which literally means "World of the lord of the Wahtoi". Basically, if it belongs to the Fteweyeakh, why is it still called Wahtoikoeakh, bearing in mind that the two clans are arch enemies? The Fteweyeakh is said to have taken over the Wahtoi in -750, but in 1105 the Wahtoi still exists and are vassals to the Aroaye'i.

I suggest that the Fteweyeakh took over MOST of the Wahtoi, but that the Wahtoi leaders saved some of their holdings by becoming Aroaye'i vassals. For instance, the Wahtoi's share of Khu Su'ikh must have remained with the Wahtoi. Also note that despite the Wahtoi being vassals of the Aroaye'i, the females of the two clans are equal partners in their joint business venture, which suggests that the Wahtoi had a decent bargaining position when they became Aroaye'i vassals.

Like control of Wahtoikoeakh, the Cis-rift end of the Great Rift Crossing, the trade route dominated by Khu Sukh? Despite the canonical library data entry quoted above, doesn't it seem more plausible that the Wahtoi managed to hold on to it than that their arch-enemies got hold of it?

Of course, nothing is more likely than that the Fteweyeakh claimed ownership of this lucrative world back in -750 and still claims ownership even after 1800 years. Maybe that is the source of the confusion? ;-) - Hans Rancke-Madsen

Garnfellow Notes (2023)[edit]

The text of Travellers' Digest 19 is a little garbled and can be read as if the Fteweyeakh takeover occurred in -750, but as Hans says this makes little sense. The takeover seems much more likely to have happened after 1111 and before 1120, and would make sense as either a contributing cause or a knock-on effect of the fall of Hlyueawi. In 1105 Wahtoikoeakh should still be under Wahtoi control and should have allegiance AsTv (Aslan Vlan, Tlaukhu Vassal). In 1120 Wahtoikoeakh should be under Fteweyeakh control and have the allegiance code AsT4 (Aslan Tlaukhu Clan, Eakhtiyho bloc). Note that by 1248 the Eakhtiyho have been destroyed and the Wahtoi have regained their independence.
