• It is a member of the Luriani Cultural Association, a sub-polity of the Third Imperium, located in the Ikhnaton Subsector of Ley Sector.

The naval base at Secord is a fleet base used primarily by assets of the Ley Sector Fleet. It also hosts some subsector fleet assets for local security, but its primary function is to support warfighting elements of the navy, such as battleships and cruisers plus their support vessels.

Secord has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. 90% of the locals are Luriani.

A significant minority of the cultural Luriani population are biological Solomani or Vilani. The Solomani, known as Veresti Dtareen (Terran Defenders) descend from Terran soldiers and administrators of the Rule of Man stranded during the Long Night, while the Vilani are known as Mmarislusant (Victims of History), and descend from stranded Vilani colonists. Both groups have absorbed much of Luriani culture and are seen both by themselves and the natives as being genuine Luriani.
