Santol is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
  • It is a member of the Carrillian Assembly in the Drinsaar Subsector of Reaver's Deep Sector.
  • This world-system hosts a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.
  • This world was once known as Nora Alice.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport (St)[edit]

Santol has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Population[edit]

200,000

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Santol possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Santol has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

Only two rival factions of note remain in the Carrillian Assembly, out of what once were dozens. These are the conservative Assemblist party, focused on stability, and the opposition Expansionist party, which seeks to incorporate new territories through economic and military domination. In parallel, most Carrillian businesses have merged or been absorbed, leaving only a handful of large corporations.
