Rancke-Madsen is a poor, barren world with no overt population, government, or law level.
- This world could be populated if anyone had an inclination to do so...
- It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Stane Subsector of Astron Sector.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- Temperatures on the world are uniformly low.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Rancke-Madsen is a binary star system.
- Both are red main sequence stars.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x10 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Rancke-Madsen is a Twilight Zone World.
- One side of the world permanently faces towards the star and one side permanently faces away.
- In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's colder outer H- region.
- It receives relatively low levels of stellar energy.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Rancke-Madsen is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Rancke-Madsen has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Rancke-Madsen has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.
- Much of the surface is an arid, hostile environment.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive, specialized native life filling a few specific ecological niches. Its metabolic functions help regulate the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The system is a frontier, a wild and lonely place that rarely sees visitors. Many of the planets and moons within it have never had an intelligent being visit them.
- Information about the system is limited.
- The resources of the system are largely untapped.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date: previously undocumented groups may now inhabit the system and maintain their own culture, forms of government, and systems of law.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Rancke-Madsen does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Rancke-Madsen possesses a Tech Level of TL–0.
- The world has no technological base.
World Government (G)[edit]
Rancke-Madsen has no government or ruling authority of any kind.
World Military[edit]
None.
World Law (L)[edit]
Rancke-Madsen has no law level. No laws of any kind are enforced.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 6 (poor)
- Labor: 0 (none)
- Infrastructure: 0 (none)
- Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Rancke-Madsen is unpopulated.

- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
