Pamushgar is a poor, industrial, high-population desert hellworld, with a billion or more sophonts struggling to survive in a inhospitable environment.

  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
  • This world has no free-standing water.
  • As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Gimushi Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector and in the Domain of Antares. Pamushgar, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the feifdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.

History and Background[edit]

Despite Terran control, the Vilani were able to establish a new settlement- the mining colony on Pamushgar, on A.D. 2484 (-2036 Imperial). This colony quickly became very successful. Its regional prominence gave it the ability to delay, deflect, or water-down Rule of Man attempts to destroy their very Vilani society. As it was able to retain Vilani culture and governance, the populace did not suffer social disruption on the same scale as most other systems, and prospered while other Vilani worlds fell apart.

Pamushgar was one of the Glorious Twelve, the term given to the twelve human systems that stood against the Vargr Pillaging.

Despite having the ability to do so, Pamushgar never established her own interstellar polity, preferring to invest in her own industrial and technological abilities rather than interstellar colonization and conquest.

Pamushgar thrived during the Long Night and entered the Third Imperium with a very high population and a heavy industrial infrastructure intact. In [44], Pamushgar hosts the first Imperial Naval base in the sector.

The planetary economy and population boomed during the False Dawn (200-300 Imperial) - but at the cost of a permanent atmospheric taint. Much of the planet was taken over by pirates in the Civil War era.

Pamushgar was the centre of local anti-Abadani activity, and often suffered for it with numerous terrorist attacks, assassinations, and strike actions. Since the 950s, though, the Abadani tide has slowly ebbed away, and most of the surviving groups that claim Abadani support are really just criminal fronts, without serious ideological content.

Formerly governed by an impersonal Tri-Bureaux system inspired by ancient Vilani practices, Pamushgar suffered a civil war a few decades ago, which overturned the centuries-old bureaucracy. The rebellion’s leader, Baron Emil Kantuun, took charge of the local government initially to support an interim government until the specifics could be finalized and elections held. That was forty years ago, and Baron Kantuun still rules his world's government as a military leader. Offworld news source occasionally receive reports of guerrilla fighting in outlying provinces, but the Pamushgar "interim" government categorically denies any unrest among the world's sizable population.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Pamushgar, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

Marquis Pamushgar[edit]

Akuushgu of House Isishamsadar

(A pure Vilani, he looks and acts in his late 50s)

Usually, a Marquis is not counted as High Nobility, ashe has no responsibilities outside of his star system. However, the Marquis of Pamushgar has alwayslooked for ways to position his family closer to Ducalauthority: when the Sector Fleet left, he marshalled his forces to insure security for the rimward half of Gimushi Subsector. Alvin Plummer. "The Peerage of the Empty Quarter." Stellar Reaches 20 (2012): 5.

In 1138, Pamushgar was successfully retaking control of her solar systems from assorted pirate bands, using a mix of TL 12 ships (from the old Imperial Colonial Fleet and her own pre-war system forces). While the homeworld was safe, only a limited number of warships could patrol the outer system at any time, allowing the pirate base - a bunch of hobbled-together free traders - to relocate easily via jumpdrive. When a flotilla of sub-2,000-ton, TL 15 starships from the almost-forgotten Imperial Domain of Gateway entered into the system, the locals were astonished - they haven’t seen a single patrol boat from Emperor Lucan in an age.

Moreover, even though they claimed allegiance to Emperor Lucan - as their own world did - they asked before they gave assistance, and showed respect to the local authorities (even though, being Imperial forces, they could claim the right to do anything they wanted outside of Pamushgar’s 100-diameter limit). This is something that Lucan’s men from the Imperial Core simply never did.

Later, when the Imperial Domain formalized its independence, the Pamushgar government asked to join the fledging government. Her request was granted in the same year the new starnation was born, in 1143, only two years before the current year of 1145 Imperial. The strongly Vilani culture is rather uncomfortable working with the Luriani leadership (which views Vilani culture with some distaste), but the Domain’s continuation of Imperial non-interference policies, coupled by large amounts of investment monies and a strong Domain Navy build-up - including the construction of a naval base - has muted most concerns. Moreover, her ruling family head was granted a ducal throne, with all the Gateway systems within the Empty Quarter under his authority.

World Starport[edit]

Pamushgar has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
