System Data[edit]

Molos System[edit]

The primary is an unnamed ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols, and a diameter of 764,000 km. (I-I) Molos, designated the mainworld, and (I-II) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (III) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, (IV) a sparse icy planetoid belt, and (V) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(I-I) Molos[edit]

(I-I) Molos is designated the mainworld. It orbits the primary at a mean distance of 0.14 AU (20.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 27 days 9 hours: it is tidally locked to the primary. The axial tilt is 12 degrees. Molos has a diameter of 6,233 km, a density of 4.67 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.42 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of the primary cause regular geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 1.11 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N2), 20% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 59% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.4m. Mean surface temperature: 24°C. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe. The climate is static.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 122 million km², Water surface area: 72 million km², Land surface area: 50 million km².

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Molos, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cool hospitable world lying in orbital position (I-II) (within the habitable zone) has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Molos system has been studied by the Local Astrographical Survey Project, a part of the Astronomy Department of the University of Selasia.
