Mauritania is a poor, nonindustrial desert hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
  • This world has no free-standing water.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a member of the Regency of Muirimi in the WillWlmo Subsector of Theron Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Mauritania has a solitary primary star.

  • It is an orange subgiant.
  • Under Sitaraist belief, the primary is considered a "good star".

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zones warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Mauritania is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Mauritania has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Mauritania has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Satellites:[edit]

Mauritania retains a small trace atmosphere moon.

  • It orbits once every few weeks.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Primitive native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Mauritania is a growing commercial settlement with an expanding economy and rising standards of living.

  • It is a member world of the Regency of Muirimi.
  • It has been settled for centuries.
  • The resources of the system are being exploited.

The population are culturally Muirimi.

  • The inhabitants can trace their origins back to the central Asian and Indian subcontinent regions of Terra.
  • The majority are followers of Sitaraism, a form of star-worship.

A number of businesses, organizations, and private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is fairly frequent: ships regularly arrive and depart.
  • Commo is filled with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Naiurdu and Riftian Anglic.
  • The star causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
  • A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • A number of vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Chart Regency of Muirimi Basic 2.png

The world formed part of an ancient Muirimi state called the "Roshanee Kee Ekata", or the "Unity of Light".

  • It was more commonly called the "Unity of Stars".
  • The region was sometimes referred to as "Far Tibet".
  • The Unity was home to reclusive sects of monks dedicated to achieving personal enlightenment and unlocking inner powers.
  • The Unity and its member worlds chose to join the Regency upon its formation.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Mauritania has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Demographics (P)[edit]

Mauritania has a population of 6 million.

Urbanization[edit]

A few large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.

  • Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
  • Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
  • Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Mauritania possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World Government (G)[edit]

Mauritania is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are young governments, coming as a recent change and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 20,000 personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Mauritania has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Economy[edit]
