Kirrixurian/secret

The Kirrixurians were not natives of Kirrixur or Kirur, but were the descendants of a colony left behind on Kirrixur thousands of years before the K'kree noticed them. Their ancestors had arrived in a NAFAL generation ship, stopped at Kirrixur to refuel and recharge supplies, and moved on. They left behind those who wished to colonize the pleasant waterworld of Kirrixur, and were only peripherally aware of the primitive K'kree in Kirur.

Those who stayed behind endured several cycles of advanced civilization separated by periods of more primitive survival. During one of the periods when they could visit Kirur they discovered the K'kree and began using them as a food source, building hunting camps in places the K'kree were not likely to go and preying on them in the darkness. This eventually ended, though the reasons are unclear, but being actively hunted was one of many factors that accelerated the sentience and society of the K'kree, who would unite, develop the means to reach the mysterious lit cities on Kirrixur, and wipe out the G'naak who had once hunted them.

The discovery that the G'naak were just a colony would change the K'kree permanently.

Aside from a closely held museum collection on Kirrixur, no trace of the "Kirrixurians" remains in K'kree space. The K'kree never found another trace of them during the Crusade. Only in the early 1100s (Imperial calendar) was a race discovered in Gateway that looked suspiciously like the G'naak.
