Iushush has a tainted, unbreatheable atmosphere and little available surface water. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Remnants Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Amec Trade Protectorate and the Domain of Vland. Iushush, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Guueshgii. The Nahuatl name of the world is Huitlaotl.
Astrography and planetology[edit]
Iushush is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.
Its thick, corrosive atmosphere hides the fact that Iushush is a pharmacist's paradise. All life on the planet is fluoride-based. Much of the planet is a rocky wind-swept wilderness.
Native Lifeforms: Fluoride-based Plant-life[edit]
Iushush's real wealth lies in its exotic fluoride-based flora. Plants need extra heat to sprout, and grow extensively around the numerous volcanoes. The plant seeds are explosively propagated, thrown as far as half a kilometer. The seed case then unfolds to a set of blades which allow the seed to "fly" for several hours. The heat of a volcano or magma flow causes the seed to land and plant itself. Visitors are warned that the impact of the seeds as they are propagated can cause serious injury.
These plants have a number of commercial uses, primarily as pharmaceuticals. Plant sap is chemically and genetically neutral, and used as a chemical transport for drug delivery. Other extracts are used for water purification, invert sugar for flavorings, or other additives. To date Zadush-DagChem (ZDC) has identified and is producing over three hundred separate compounds from Iushush's plant life.
ZDC has begun cultivating specific species in large underground caverns heated by nearby magma flows. Unfortunately there are difficulties with large scale cultivation, including inter-species fertilization causing odd mutations in the resulting crosses. Attempts to cultivate various species off-world have failed completely.
History and Background[edit]
Iushush is a resource planet, leased in perpetuity from the Amec Trade Protectorate by Zadush-DagChem (ZDC).
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Iushush has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Iushush has a population of 40,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The following languages are among the most commonly used within this astrographic region:
- Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium.
- Karanga: A Terran-derived language that is a secondary tongue within the Amec Protectorate.
- Nahuatl: A language with its roots in ancient Terra, now used as the primary language of the Amec Trade Protectorate.
- Sall: The predominate language of Bolivar (Dagudashaag 0240), spoken as a common second language in the Trade Protectorate.
The planet's Nahuatl name is Huitlaotl.
Although the current Nahuatl designation is not official, it is included in order to assist travellers who may find it beneficial to use this planetary designation while travelling within the Federation. It is strongly recommended that visitors obtain a good quality translator MemClip prior to entering Federation space. INDISS produce a high quality Galanglic-Nahuatl two-way clip available from all good data libraries, price Cr. 150 rrp.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Iushush possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Iushush is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
This world is governed by Zadush-DagChem.
World Law (L)[edit]
Iushush has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
