Mathan is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and nonindustrial in nature.
- These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- The worldlets require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Cleft Subsector of Harea Sector.
- It orbits the secondary star.
- Asteroid belts have no climate, but experience extreme differences in temperature between direct starlight and shade.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- This dangerous world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions make it dangerous to visitors.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
- This system lies within the vast molecular cores of the Separe Cloud. Energy radiating from its stars keeps it relatively clear of gas and dust to as far as the heliopause.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x5 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Ianneh is an Asteroid Belt mainworld.
The belt orbits within the secondary stars outer system.
- It receives very low levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Ianneh is an Asteroid Belt consisting of a few very large objects with diameters of hundreds of kilometers, thousands of bodies of a few kilometers in diameter, and millions of smaller objects.
- Asteroid Belt is the belt when it is the mainworld of a system.
- Planetoid Belt refers to any non-mainworld belt within a system.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
None of the bodies within the Ianneh belt retain an atmosphere.
- The belt is in vacuum conditions, requiring the use of a Vacc Suit.
- TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
The Ianneh belt contains a few icy bodies. A few belt objects have frozen volatiles on their surfaces.
- Wilderness refueling is possible within the belt, provided a suitable icy object can be found.
- Water for the inhabitants is generally imported and is extensively recycled.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held chart of the belt exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, asteroid belt.)
Native lifeforms[edit]
No native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Ianneh is a boomtown with a wildly unstable economy and huge disparities in standards of living.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
A number of businesses, organizations, and private interests are active within the system.
- Commercial traffic is fairly frequent: ships regularly arrive and depart.
- Commo regularly picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- The primary star causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
- A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A few vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
The chaotic commercial and living conditions within the tunnel-cities causes the system to be rated as an Amber Zone.
The system is rumored to contain artifacts of unusual origin.
- The artifacts are mundane - they include items such as fuel containers, personal weapons, and packaged rations.
- The items appear to be relatively modern (less than a century old).
They are curious because they appear to originate from within the M'norr Republic.
- The polity lies within far-off Mintaka Sector, on the other side of Charted Space.
- How or why a trove of such ordinary objects would be found within a remote system on the edge of Harea Sector remains unclear.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Ianneh has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Ianneh has a population of 70,000.
Urbanization[edit]
Cities are tunnelled into large rocky planetoids.
- Each has its own starport.
- Smaller facilities exist on other rocky bodies.
- Structures and facilities are sealed.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Ianneh possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Ianneh has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
- The world is administered by an impersonal bureaucracy but controlled by a military junta.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 200 personnel, backed up by mercenary troops.
World Law (L)[edit]
Ianneh has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: D (very abundant)
- Labor: 3 (thousands)
- Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: -3 (poor)
Trade Data[edit]
Importance: -2 (unimportant)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 7 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 2 (very xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
- Symbols: 5 (concrete)
World Timeline[edit]

- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
