Compact and discreet when closed, these serve as artificial dewclaws when unfolded and locked. Visitors from outside the Aslan Hierate often mistake them for a type of jewelry since they are often crafted from rich materials. When not in use, a hoyeko is usually attached to its bracelet or hung from a wrist chain.
