Ghoerrughz

Ghoerrughz is an ancient monastery situated on a rocky outcropping on the Island of the Four Winds on Emerald in the Spinward Marches.

Description (Specifications)

For as long as anyone can remember there has been a monastery here, home to a brotherhood of Vargr time worshipers.

Ostensibly the monks are a reclusive order dedicated to worship and the further understanding of the nature of time and the universe. In truth the order is much more than this and has for many years been conducting experiments into the possibilities of time travel. As yet they have been unsuccessful in their endeavours but who can say they will not at some point succeed?

History & Background (Dossier)

The Imperium accepts the presence of the monks on Emerald with an outward aloofness. However, Imperial security and scientific agencies have secretly been in contact with the monastery for many years, hoping that the monks will discover a breakthrough in time travel with all its ensuing possibilities for the advancement of the Imperium (mistakes can be rectified before they happen, military defeats avoided, the possibilities are endless).

Famous for their production of temporal tonic wine (the only visible source of income for the monastery) the monks of Ghoerrughz have made a great, but perhaps dubious, contribution to Imperial culture and social life.
