Forum:DPL Upgrade and limitations
As part of the ongoing wiki maintenance I've upgraded the Dynamic Page List (DPL) the the latest version (3.1.0). I've upgraded this because the older version had a few interesting problems.
One of the ongoing issues with the DPL, both old version and new versions, is the section transclusion can not handle section names with parenthesis: () or ampersands: &
The Template: Summary of page is one of the templates using this functionality. This allows auto-copying a section of a page, as given by the headers, into another page.
If you have a header like "Culture & Society (Ethnology)", the Summary of page template will fail, and show only a blank page. There are complex technical reasons for this. But I'd like, very strongly, to not have headers with the parenthesis in them. I'm going to update the Manual of Style to make this very apparent.
