System Data

Ossius-Fendak System

The primary is Ossius, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1.102 Sols, a mass of 1.02 Sols, and a diameter of 1.399 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a trace atmosphere inner world, (II) an exotic atmosphere radworld, and (III) a standard atmosphere stormworld. (IV) Fendak orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (V) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VI) a ringed large gas giant, (VII) a small gas giant, (VIII) a very large gas giant, and (IX) a dense icy planetoid belt form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

(IV) Fendak

(IV) Fendak is designated the mainworld. It orbits Ossius at a mean distance of 1.02 AU (152.6 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 7 days and a rotation period of 26.5 hours. The axial tilt is 21 degrees. Fendak has a diameter of 11,687 km, a density of 5.79 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.96 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, with a mean surface pressure of 1.89 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N₂), 20% oxygen (O₂), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 64% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.4m. Mean surface temperature: 19°C. The atmosphere is active and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the oceans work across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Satellites

Fendak retains two natural satellites, a tiny vacuum worldlet named Marler and a trace atmosphere worldlet named Shull:

Native Lifeforms

The stormworld lying in orbital position (III) (within the H– region of the inner system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

Fendak, the mainworld, lying within the habitable zone, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
