Ergo is a high-population, non-agricultural and industrial vacuum world, with a billion or more sophonts in population size, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Keum Subsector of Massilia Sector in the Domain of Sylea.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or above the standard for Charted Space.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- It is a member of the Outer Loop region of the Greater Massilia Main.
- During the Long Night it was a full member of the Rebin Empire.
- This world directly controls Naston.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Ergo has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
Ergo has a solitary primary star. Primary

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x4 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Ergo is the innermost of the nine worlds and gas giants in the system, orbiting at 0.1 AU from the star, and is tidally locked to the primary. The planetary density is 4.33 g/cc due to the high concentration of iron in the planet's core and the surface gravity is 0.2 Gs. The atmospheric pressure is 0.009 atmospheres. Temperatures on the bright face are extremely high but fall to frigid levels on the dark face, which necessitates the world's vast subsurface settlements.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Ergo is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Ergo has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Ergo has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Ergo is a Puzzle World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
It is a member of the Outer Loop region of the Greater Massilia Main, a major Main and important trade route lying across parts of Massilia Sector and Zarushagar Sector.
The system's star causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
The Rebin Empire[edit]
During the Long Night Ergo was a full member of the Rebin Empire. It had a matriarchal government and social structure and firmly enforced strict gender roles. It carefully monitored less enlightened worlds in the region and used its status to make decisions on their behalf. The Empire gradually disintegrated in the centuries before the founding of the Third Imperium, with interstellar trade slowly dying off and some of the worlds it had overseen becoming depopulated.
- Most worlds that were members of the Empire still have a strong Rebin cultural flavor.
- The Rebin Empire was generally considered a force for good and most former member worlds are proud of their association with it.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Ergo has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- This world is host to a Naval Base.
Primus Shipyards, owned and operated by the Imperial megacorporation GSbAG, is the region's premier shipbuilder.
- Primus Shipyards originated on Ergo during the Long Night. The original shipyard was acquired by GSbAG during the early years of the Imperium.
- GSbAG have since opened a number of other yards using the same name, exploiting the notions of reliability, tradition, and heritage that it evokes.
World Population (P)[edit]
Ergo has a population of 8,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
Linguistic Topography[edit]
The most commonly heard languages are:
- Anglic, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
- Vilani, one of the two official languages of the Imperium.
Locals speak with a distinctive Rebin accent.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Ergo possesses a Technology Level of TL–15 or TL-F in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Meson Communicators and Pseudo Reality Communications.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, improved collectors, and advanced Fusion+.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Advanced gravcraft.
- Air: Advanced gravcraft and speeders.
- Space: Advanced gravcraft and G-Carriers.
- FTL: Jump Drive-6.
World Government (G)[edit]
Ergo is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
Ergo has a matriarchal government, with all offices of state and positions of authority controlled by females. It can trace its origins back to the colonial regime in place during the Rebin Empire.
World Law (L)[edit]
Ergo has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.
The world has many laws regarding gender status and gender roles, which generally subjugate males. The female-dominated culture, with its servitor male population, requires strict law enforcement to ensure that all citizens are kept in line. The punishments for transgressions or committing offenses are particularly draconian.
- These laws are an anachronism from the Rebin Empire.
- There is an active equal rights movement.
Imperial Landed Nobility[edit]
Ergo, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight, the Imperial representative to the world.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial count.
- It holds the fiefdom of an Imperial minor duke.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 4 (important)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: F (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 8 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: G (very comprehensive)
- Efficiency: +5 (very advanced)
World Culture[edit]
The world retains a strongly matriarchal culture. As well as inequality in pay and recompense, males often find that opportunities and roles open to females are not available to them. Males may find it hard to get service or representation without a female escort to speak on their behalf. Visiting males are expected to adhere to the world's social norms and face the same penalties as locals if they break them.
- Heterogenity: B (discordant)
- Acceptance: D (very xenophilic)
- Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
- Symbols: H (incomprehensibly abstract)
